About Dr. DeMarco
Hello! Please accept this brief summation as my introduction to you. My name is Laura DeMarco and I have been a practicing licensed clinical psychologist in the Southern Tier of New York since 1992. I came to this beautiful area after completing my education at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA (BA), the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia (MS) and the University of Miami (Ph.D.) in Miami, FL. My internship was completed at the Devereux Foundation in Exton, PA.
I began my career in the Southern Tier of New York in community mental health at our local counseling center (now known as ARA) in Wellsville. Shortly thereafter, I became involved in the inpatient psychiatric care of adults and adolescents at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell, where I worked until the closure of these two units. Shortly after my arrival in this area, I established a private practice that I maintain today. I have also had the opportunity to serve as a consultant to area schools, foster care agencies and agencies that serve the mentally ill/developmentally disabled. I have spent several semesters as an adjunct faculty member at Alfred University.
Presently my private practice is located at 2 South Main Street, Suite 3, in Andover. I have recently relocated from my previous location in Hornell, where I was affiliated with Milestone PPS. The move brought me to a more central position so that my office can be easily accessed from Hornell, Wellsville, Alfred, Whitesville, Canisteo, Jasper/Troupsburg and northern PA towns. There is convenient parking adjacent to the building. My office is located on the second floor, and unfortunately, there are no elevators. If you have physical challenges that prevent you from accessing a second floor office, I do have a nearby location that can serve nicely as an office, so do not hesitate to contact me if you would require first floor accommodations.
I am currently accepting new patients ages 13/14 through the life span. Although I do not specialize and am skilled in treating a variety of mental health issues/conditions, the following are areas where I have acquired additional training and expertise throughout the years: depression, anxiety, stress-based conditions, treatment of trauma, and gender issues. I also offer life coaching and therapy sessions for less severe yet pressing mental health concerns including work related issues, relationship issues and parenting questions/concerns. I can provide assessment and referral for those suffering from addictions (either chemical or behavioral). I often provide groups/classes that focus on management of chronic conditions, such as pain, anxiety and depression. These will be announced on my website as they occur.
Please feel free to review my resume using the link below or use other tabs in this website to read my treatmeat philosophy and the services I offer or download the patient/therapist agreement and other new patient paperwork. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at the number and email provided at the bottom of the page.
